Johnstown FC’s big day out for FAI Cup Finals day

Johnstown FC had a great day today for FAI Cup finals day at the Aviva Stadium.

Johnstown FC was well represented on the day with a great contingent traveling up by bus to the games. We were also represented in an official capacity with players from the girl’s u13 team selected as ball girls for the Women’s final and players from the boy’s u13s and u11s team as ball boys for the Men’s final.

Up first was the women’s final contested by Wexford Youths vs Peamount Utd. Wexford Youths were 1 – 0 victors on the day completing the double.

Next up was the men’s final where Dundalk FC took on Cork City FC.  Dundalk were victorious at the final whistle and completed the league cup double with a 2-1 win over Cork City.

Former Johnstown FC player Dylan Connolly was part of the Dundalk FC winning team. Congratulations Dylan.

We had a helping hand from the wider Johnstown community providing some sustenance for the group, thanks to Smiths Supervalu and andysfunfood.com for providing snacks for the group and Dublin bus for the transport.

Days out like this are of huge benefit to the football club and help grow the sense of pride and community within the club. A huge thanks must go out to all parents and coaches that helped out on the day and made it so enjoyable. In particular, a huge debt of gratitude must be paid to John O’Brien who organised the day out from its inception.

Everyone had a very enjoyable day out and here’s to more in the future.

Johnstown FC are delighted to announce our new training and coach education partner EI Sports.

Post from EI Sports today:

Having met with the club we could see the passion the committee had to take the club forward from a Player Development & Coach Development perspective.

We will now be launching a New Club Academy program in the coming months to support Player development for ages 7 to 13. Having seen the growth in our own Academy program on Wednesdays in Navan with players from Johnstown FC and having had players on our trips over the past 2 years it is great to be bringing the program now directly into the club.

Further Developing the Club Nursery program to expand from 2011s to 2014s Boys & Girls.

Launch a new Coach Education Mentorship Program starting next week which will see a Coach the Coach program , supporting coaches with Session planning, new session ideas and enhancing the development opportunities for all the players in the club. This will include our very successful Junior Coach Mentorship program which will be launched shortly also.

We wish to Thank the Committee & Chairman Kevin for partnering up with us and we look forward to supporting the club in its Development Goals.

Match report Johnstown under 12 Girls

Match report Johnstown under 12 Girls V Skryne Tara AFC Yellow

It was a game of two halves for Johnstown in the McGuinn Brennan Cup quarter final last weekend.

Playing against a seriously depleted, but spirited Skryne side we played six a side. Johnstown led at half time with goals from Katie McCarn and  Roisin Byrne and some good assists from Jessica Devoy Horan.  Good defending from Zara Cleary and Chloe Gaffney helped keep the score against us down.

Cue second half and a whole new team, although the result was much the same. A strong defence led by Linda Millina and Sophie Hannigan and 3 goals from Leah Donnelly and 1 each from Osarhumwense Osariemen and Sophie Goodman after some good link up play led to a win and a passage through to semi-final where we will face Skryne Tara Blue.

Well done to the team on a great performance in their first competitive game. Roll on the next round.
