U13 SFAI Sketchers Cup Match Report

Johnstown U13s Progressed to the next round of the SFAI cup today away to a tough tackling Balbriggan FC.

Adam Murphy once again opened the scoring with another 20 yard pile driver to the roof of the net.  Johnstown were well in control of the game but conceded just before half time, to a deflected free kick to go in 1-1 at half time.

A  few changes at half time with the introduction of new signing Ciaran Cox and also Finn Malone soon had Johnstown on top.  Abraham rose highest to head a corner in at the far post to restore a 2-1 lead.  As always in cup games away JFC felt they were denied a couple of penalty shouts harshly.  No matter some key pressing and closing down well reaped the rewards with 5 minutes remaining as Mantis closed the keeper who directed his clearance off our tall striker into his net to make it 3-1.

match won, once again our back four did their job well with Captain Lee Fitzgerald a tower at the back and winning most duals in the air as our opponents tried to play it mostly over the top for their nippy centre forward. On to the next round the good start continues 3 wins from 3 so far this year.

Johnstown 2  – 1 Trim  U13 Premier in the MDL

JFC made it two wins out of two for the season.  In good conditions on Saturday in a game where Adam Murphy was excellent bagging a 20 yard screamer after two minutes and then an Ingenius flick off his back for his second.

In the second half. in truth JFC should of been 3 or 4 up at halftime but for some wayward finishing and excellent trim goal keeping, Once again the fruits of a full squad came into play with Kian McMullen playing a very competitive midfield role and doing it well.  The back four once again held the line well and Jamie Byrne looking solid and stronger each week. JFC nearly paid the price for earlier missed chances with Trim scoring five minutes from time to make it a nervy last few minutes.

The good start continues but a lot of work ahead in this short season

    Under 15s Match Report 3rd September 2016

    Trim Celtic 3 Johnstown 6

Johnstown dominated proceedings and capitalized on their early possession, Mooney broke the offside trap to coolly slot past the on rushing keeper to give Johnstown a deserved lead. Johnstown dominated much of the 1st half and Mooney had his hatrick completed within 30 mins of the game, he scored 2 goals in quick succession assisted both by Taylor. On the stroke of half time Trim were handed a life line when they scored from distance to beat the impressive Makinde.
    HT 1-3
Trim had their tails up and earlier in the 2nd half they capitalized on Johnstown’s complacency when they scored 2 goals to level the match. Johnstown’s excellent team work lay down the foundations to this well deserved win.

    U14 Premier Match Report 3rd September 2016

    U14s Premier Johnstown 2 – Park villa 2.
In very wet conditions Johnstown opened their season in a hotly contested local derby against Parkvilla.  With some players, playing out of position it took Johnstown a while to get going, heads went down a little when villa beat our defence down the middle to slot home and then a second  came there way via a corner.
Two nil down at halftime, we knew we would have the bit of breeze at our backs, and it wasn’t long before Adam Quinn looped the ball over the villa keeper to rally the crowd.
Some more chances from Johnstown had Parkvilla rattled and the intensity in the crowd was at fever point.  It was only a matter of time and then it came low ball across Adam again in the right place 2-2 game on.
Johnstown strained every sinew and can not question their commitment in looking for the win but alas mister time was on villas side!!.
A faster start next time should put us in a good place well done all.
