What a difference a week makes for U16s

U16 in Trim yesterday

Well what difference a week makes 🤜,today we travelled to trim after a poor result the previous week, how would the lads respond? Brilliantly is the answer today we played football moving into space, letting the ball do the work and winning the 2nd ball, great attitude by the whole squad and I could tell they were up for it right from the first whistle.

We instantly played the ball around from defence into midfield, patiently waiting for the right ball, we where causing them problems down both flanks and winning everything in the middle of the park with mikey running them ragged from the word go and fitza throwing himself around it was a matter of time before we scored, then on the 25th minute mark good passage of play mikey found himself in the box surrounded by 3 defenders to burst through and smash home the first goal.

Then 10 mins later trim had a corner with a stroke of luck the lad scored directly from the it into the far top corner, that summed up our luck this year but the lads lifted themselves to play out the half well 1.1 at the break.

2nd half kicked off 2 substitution came on to freshen things up and it paid off instantly with us having trim pinned in there own half, the next 40 mins was a onslaught Ronan was causing all sorts of problems down the left as was Quinny down the right,Jack in goal and Aaron Shaun herdy had everything under control in defence, riley and walshy winning the ball and releasing it putting us on the front foot, liam getting into space playing smart one 2s and pressing to give our 2 strikers in mikey and Lee to cause havoc that they did very impressively, the 2nd goal came from a set piece the ball bounced and mikey was there to volley it home 2,1 up,the lads confidence grew by the minute then 5 mins later mikey ran onto a superb ball from Ronan to get his hatrick and put the game to bed 3,1 up,we created loads more chances then finally Lee got his goal he deserved on his debut by smashing one in from 25 yards out, game well and truly over it finished 4.1 to the johnstown.

As I said at the start it was a complete effort by the whole squad great attitude and willingness to fight for each other, brilliant work to all of the lads, man of the match today Mickey leddy fantastic display followed by all onwards and upwards JFC
