U16 Triumph tops a busy weekend for Johnstown FC

It was a busy weekend for Johnstown FC, starting with both our U16 Boys and U14 girls in cup final action up in the MDL on Saturday. On Sunday it was great to see the Peoples Park buzzing with activity with our Academy again in situ honing their skills in the heart of their community.

U14s

On Saturday first up we had our U14 girls coming up against our local rivals Parkvilla in the Colm Duffy Cup Final. This game handed us the template for the day in store for the Johnstown FC teams. It was an extremely tight affair with both Navan teams locked together after full time. Being a lovely day for football spectators were treated to extra time, but yet again both teams were in-separable after additional time with the game finishing 4 – 4. The game would be decided from the spot. Alas, it wasn’t to be for Johnstown FC Girls as it finished 4 – 2 after penalties. The Girls and their coaches can hold their heads high after a valiant effort on the day and great football being played throughout the year.

U16

In our second game of interest, the U16s came through a hard found battle against Kingscourt in the John Harte Cup final. Again the game was tight afair in the regulation 90″, with Kingscourt finishing the game with 10 men and the sides level at 0 – 0. Into extra time we went with Johnstown striking the first blow with a great effort going in off the underside of the crossbar. The Kingscourt team were resilient even with the numbers disadvantage and levelled the game before the first half was up in extra time. After over 100 minutes of football, the sides were inseparable. This group of lads showed their huge fighting spirit and kicked on after the break going 2-1 and then 3-1 up. They are a credit to the club themselves and their families after the turbulent year they’ve had. There were some lovely words shared after the final whistle mentioning their teammate Mikey Leddy. Congrats to the lads and the coaches on this well-deserved win. Some pictures and highlights below…

Academy

On Sunday we had a great turn out with nearly 30 kids in attendance for our Academy training at noon. It great to see the little ones enjoying themselves playing football with Johnstown. It is also great to see our coaches giving their time and effort but we are always looking for another pair of hands so if you are interested please get in touch with the page and we will start you off on your coaching journey.

We hope to see an even bigger number of kids in the park at 12 next Sunday. Until then…

UP THE JOHNNER!

Football is coming Home

Johnstown Fc is delighted to announce that we will be returning to the people’s park to train some of the underage teams.

It has been a long time coming and we would like to thank Alan Lawes and JPP for all their hard work in getting this lined up.

This coming Sunday we will have our Academy training in the park from 12PM. It will be great to see the kids of Johnstown playing in their own community. If you are passing by come and show your support.

End of Season Presentation

On Saturday we had our End of Season presentation to the Johnstown players from u-7 to u-11.

Thanks to our 1st team manager Christy Kavanagh for presenting medals to all the players.

To Sinead, Caroline, Audrey and Sandra Anderson for all the help on the day

Big thanks to M.C for the day Eoin Sheridan and Adrian Finnegan for the photos and sorting out the medals for the kids, and to Walterstown for providing the hall.

Also to the managers whose work in the rain and cold sometimes goes unnoticed, but not by the club.

Thanks to everyone for all the help along the way

The club is looking forward to next year and providing football to all the players in the teams below and any new players who want to join our football family.

Johnstown FC are delighted to announce our new training and coach education partner EI Sports.

Post from EI Sports today:

Having met with the club we could see the passion the committee had to take the club forward from a Player Development & Coach Development perspective.

We will now be launching a New Club Academy program in the coming months to support Player development for ages 7 to 13. Having seen the growth in our own Academy program on Wednesdays in Navan with players from Johnstown FC and having had players on our trips over the past 2 years it is great to be bringing the program now directly into the club.

Further Developing the Club Nursery program to expand from 2011s to 2014s Boys & Girls.

Launch a new Coach Education Mentorship Program starting next week which will see a Coach the Coach program , supporting coaches with Session planning, new session ideas and enhancing the development opportunities for all the players in the club. This will include our very successful Junior Coach Mentorship program which will be launched shortly also.

We wish to Thank the Committee & Chairman Kevin for partnering up with us and we look forward to supporting the club in its Development Goals.
