We had an exciting week in Johnstown FC this week with lots of fantastic football and some great activities for our members.
Last Sunday our under 18s played at home in a cup match aganst Shelbourne FC. We all knew what a big game this would be for us and we asked for your support for our boys. We were not let down the MDL was packed with Johnstown FC supporters and it was a wonderful thing to see. The game itself did not go our way we faced a team of tremendous skill but we held our own. We never gave up and we never let our heads go down. This was to be a very proud day for our under 18s who did their club, their parents, Shane and themselves proud.
On Wednesday night the under 15s went to see Ireland vs Serbia in the Aviva. A bus was organized and collected us all outside Supervalu and brought us to the game and back. We all had a great night and again we would like to thank Adrian, Gary, Jonathan and Paddy for organizing and bringing the lads.
On Friday night our under 12s had the pleasure of being Guard of Honour for the Drogheda Vs Dundalk season opener in United Park. The lads meet the team before the game. Then they were guard of honour as the two teams came out to play. At half time, the team put on a game for the crowd of over 2000 fans who packed the stadium for this local derby. The team had a great time and really enjoyed the experience. A big thank you to Mr Paul Holland & all at Drogheda United and also to Julian Lee for organizing this with Drogheda United for us.
Also on Friday night our Senior team took on Cavan at home in the cup. Cavan had not lost a home game all season so a cup game at home for them was a sure thing. But our men where not to be intimidated by that and took them on at a ferocious pace and proved to be the first team this season to beat Cavan at home and most importantly for us continue on in the cup. Well done Guys
