The Punters Council Game on RTE 2FM

Coming up on 2fm in 23 minutes our very own Julian Lee will be playing the Punters Council. Even better then that he is playing on our behalf so what ever Julian wins all goes towards the Club.  Keep everything crossed that his predictions come through and listen in and cheer him on.

Champions Week

Its has been the Champions Week here in Johnstown and we should all be extremely proud of our boys in Red and White

On Wednesday night our 15s played in the 15 HSE NECSL Premier Shield Final this was this teams first year together as a team and to get this far in the shield is an excellent sign.  On Wednesday night they were runners up but they are still in with a good chance of the League.  They should be extremely proud of the achievement to get this far.

Also on Wednesday our 17s battled on the next pitch in Kells in the 17 HSE NECSL Premier Shield Final the lads took to the field full of hope and passion and they were on fire winning the shield against a very very tough Kingscourt.

The 17s then returned to action on Saturday in a league decider against Parkvillas A Team a win saw us win the league, a draw meant Parkvilla won and we were in a playoff for 2nd and a lose left us in 3rd place in the League.  However if there is one thing the 17s know its that pressure is for tyres and they certainly didn’t show any signs of pressure going ahead early in the game 0-1 by half time.  Parkvilla piled on the pressure and were relentless but our defence and attack continued back on them in equal amounts and they were for the second time this week rewarded with more silverware and League Champions.

Then on Sunday our 18s saw them selves in a similar position of a league decider, a win too win the League and 2nd place to be runners up.  The first half was full of odd cards from the ref with a player in Drumcondra sent off for a reason we were not sure of and then one of our sent off very shortly again for a reason that left us baffled.  Thankfully the second half was much more about the football and we were out to win.  The lads bouncesd back strongly and by full time we were 3-0 up.  This was our first ever team in the NDSL and they certainly flew the flag for Johnstown.

Lastly on Wednesday night Kian Henderson scored two penos at Aviva half time. Go Kian thats an great achievement for one of our Under 11s

Of course all of this is not possible with out all the hardwork put in over the year with training and games.  But we must not forgot to thanks our Coaches who volunteer to train the guys so a massive thank you to Paddy, Adrain, Vinny, Paul, Shane and Garry for all their effort too during the year.

With all of this going on with the young players in Johnstown the future looks bright for us as our boys go from strength to strength.  Well done to all concerned on an outstanding season and a fantastic week of Football.

Ronan takes to the Floor

With the year of football  over our reserves manager and first team goalie, Ronan Croke, did not know what he was going to do with himself.  So when asked by his local GAA Club to join their Strictly Come Dance fund raiser he jumped, well pirouette, at the chance to join them.

So after weeks of practice our Ronan will take to the floor this Saturday the 17th of May at 8 O’Clock in the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim. With the event only a few days away there are plenty of tickets left in what is bound to be a great night so if you want to go down and support Ron tickets are still available here www.Facebook.com/drumreedunshaughlingaa and are only 20 Euro

And if you cant make it but woudl liek to sponser him you can do so here www.drumreegaa.com/strictly

Good luck Ron from all of us!
