Under 12s play Kells-Blackwater tomorrow in the MDL. Meeting in the MDL at 1030 AM. Please let Eamonn know your availability
A poor weekend all-round for the Johnstown teams, with only the Under 12s and Under 13s picking up wins.
The Under 12’s were away to Parkvilla with the venue changed to Kells facilitating drainage works on the Villa pitch. Goals from Luke D. and Adam D. followed by a fine 2nd half backs-to-the-wall display by the whole team meant Johnstown left with all 3 points after a 2-1 victory in this the opening NECSL fixture for both teams. The Under 13s had an excellent result away to Virginia winning 2-1, Darren F. with a brace, before the home side pulled on back on the break. Read the full report here https://johnstownfc.ie/match/1291/
The Under 15s were unlucky not to take a point from their opening clash with Athboy in the MDL. Athboy took an early lead before Dylan scored an equaliser just before the interval. Midway through the 2nd half, Athboy scored a fantastic goal from all of 30 yards which proved to be the winner as a missed penalty from Johnstown meant the game finished 2-1 in favour of the visitors. The Under 17s had a hard fought but well earned 2-2 draw away to Carrick Rovers ensuring neither side left this encounter empty handed.
The Under 18s also played out a draw, this time finishing 1-1 at home to Donnycarney on Sunday morning in the MDL. Johnstown got off to the best start imaginable with their goal coming in the first minute from the boot of Mark Grumley, however shortly after the restart Donnycarney were back on level terms. Johnstown U12’s had a hard fought narrow victory agains Parkvilla in difficult conditions in Kells today winning 2-1. Luke Duffy opened the scoring for Johnstown after the Parkilla keeper saved a free kick from Adam Donohoe however he could not hold onto it and a sharp reaction from Luke on the follow up produced the first goal of the game. Parkvilla equalised soon after with a well taken goal under our stand in keeper Victor Sauchan. Victor unfortunately hurt himself so we had to put Benji Taylor in goal. Soon after Johnstown went 2-1 up with Adam Donohoe producing an unstoppable shot from 20 yards into the top corner.
The second half seen a totally different game with Johnstown rarely getting out of their own half due to playing against the breeze, up hill and a determined villa side looking to level things up. Although lucky at times our defense held out from an onslaught of attacks to win the game. Benji Taylor produced some great saves and along with the back four of Jack, Andrew, Euan and Rahaul they defended bravely to help Johnstown to record 3 points on the opening day of the season. Well done to all the team on a great win.
Our match against Parkvilla on Saturday is in Kells so we will meet in Woodies car park at 08.45am

Johnstown U12’s had a comfortable win against OMP’s U13’s in the MDL
winning 5-0 on the night. The game was made easy by the the back four
of Andrew, Jack, Rahaul & David who stopped any attack created by OMP.
The goals were scored by Adam Donohoe 2, Luke Duffy, Benji Taylor &
Scott Donohoe. All of the goals were created from play with
midfielders Ryan, Euan, Luke & Benji working well together to create
the openings for the front players.
