The Weekend That Was…..

Mixed results for Johnstown FC this weekend. From large wins to crushing defeats, we experienced the lot.

Our U12s first half demolition of Trim Celtic meant this result was never in doubt after the opening 30 minutes. Goals by Ryan Kelly, Benji Taylor and a superb hat-trick from Adam Donohoe before a scoreless second half, despite both sides creating chances, meant a comfortable 5-1 victory for Johnstown, their largest of the season so far. The U13s faced a difficult trip to a very strong Malahide Utd in the SFAI Cup on Sunday afternoon. 4-0 and a captain down by half time left the boys little to play for but pride. A second half double from Ben Ryan were among several positives that can be taken from this game. See full match report here

Our U15s triumphed by the slenderest of margins, beating Newtown United by 2-1 on Saturday morning. Johnstown opened up a 2 goal lead through Sean Allen and Jess Capucho before Newtown pulled one back setting up nervy final 10 minutes which the hosts saw out comfortably for their 3rd successive victory. Following last week’s highly impressive victory, our U17s were firmly brought back to earth to this weekend, suffering a 5-0 reversal on Saturday away to Kingscourt Harps.

The U18s welcomed 2nd placed St Ita’s to the MDL on Sunday for this early season top of the table clash. A 2-2 draw ensured Johnstown remained top of the NDSL U18 B Division.

The Senior 2nds were at home to Black Bull FC on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to goals by Shane Conroy and Wayne Cahill, Johnstown maintained their 100% home record with this 2-1 win while inflicting the first defeat of the season on Black Bull who had opened the scoring just after the break. In their John Gorman Motors Division 2 tie this weekend, our Senior 1st team travelled to face bottom of the table Fordrew Rovers. A hat-trick for Kacper Zeberek along with a brace each for Arron Kavanagh, Alan Burke and Daniele Gismondi put the hapless Rovers to the sword. After a run of 3 consecutive league defeats, this 9-0 victory was just the tonic for Ian Sheridan’s charges. See full match report here

Coaching League Fixtures

After what has been a long summer,  the coaching leagues are back  on Friday night for under 10’s Eagles and Saturday for all other junior teams.  The MDL will yet again provide us and other teams in the NECSL with a facility to play.

This year  all playing areas will be strictly no smoking.   No parent or coach will be permitted to smoke in the vicinity of the playing fields.  The MDL will have a designated smoking area.

Only astro runners or ordinary runners to be worn on the pitch.

This year official photography only is permitted.  Where a game is being photographed by an official, they will have introduced themselves to the coaches and obtained  full permission from the teams.

It is important that  these rules are respected as it could prove upsetting  for both the Club and the individual were they to be asked to leave the venue.  As the NECSL has to look after the welfare of all children, these rules are important.

Please see below  for this weeks Fixtures.
