Under 12s vs Parkvilla Match Report

[tb_match id=”1292″]

Johnstown U12’s had a hard fought narrow victory agains Parkvilla in difficult conditions in Kells today winning 2-1. Luke Duffy opened the scoring for Johnstown after the Parkilla keeper saved a free kick from Adam Donohoe however he could not hold onto it and a sharp reaction from Luke on the follow up produced the first goal of the game. Parkvilla equalised soon after with a well taken goal under our stand in keeper Victor Sauchan. Victor unfortunately hurt himself so we had to put Benji Taylor in goal. Soon after Johnstown went 2-1 up with Adam Donohoe producing an unstoppable shot from 20 yards into the top corner.

The second half seen a totally different game with Johnstown rarely getting out of their own half due to playing against the breeze, up hill and a determined villa side looking to level things up. Although lucky at times our defense held out from an onslaught of attacks to win the game. Benji Taylor produced some great saves and along with the back four of Jack, Andrew, Euan and Rahaul they defended bravely to help Johnstown to record 3 points on the opening day of the season. Well done to all the team on a great win.

Child Protection in Sport Awarness Workshop

A big thank you to all our coaches, assistant coaches, committee members and our Child Welfare officer who all attended and successfully completed tonight’s Chid Protection in Sport Awarness Workshop.

Sandra McAuley , Code of Ehtics Tutor, gave an interesting and informative course in Child Welfare to all who attended. This year it will be a legal requirement for all involved in training and coaching children to have completed this course and tonight marked an extremely important step for us in JFC to have our volunteers trained to the highest standard available.

Without our volunteers giving up their free time to be trained we would not be able to run a successful club and for this I hope you can join me in thanking them all for their continued dedication to the club.
