Could this be our New Home

As many of you are aware, we still do not have our own land and club house.  This is something we desperately need.  We are currently paying for use of the astro turf, in the MDL for training and for home games.   We also have to pay for pitch hire for every game we play.  If we had our own lands and club house, all our subs would go to directly to support the club.  We really appreciate how welcome we are made to feel in the MDL, however a football club needs its own home at the centre of the community.

This is something we have been pushing for regularly.   We have been chasing a plot of land that is close to all of us in Johnstown. Adrian has practically become a permanent fixture in Town Hall.  He regularly goes to hearings regarding getting some land.  Thankfully we have our friends on the council who have been helping us.  We are very grateful for all help received to place our club at the centre of our Community.

Last week things have become even more interesting when we got a call from local Councillor and Johnstown supporter Tommy Reilly to meet at the plot of land.  As always Adrian dropped tools and headed off to yet again plead our corner to all.  The story of our club was then picked up by the Meath Chronicle who interviewed both Adrian and Tommy about plans for the land and our urgent need for a home.  The article has appeared in this weeks chronicle and we are hoping by the first Quarter of 2014, to have a decision on the land and its usage.

We would ask that every time you see one of our local councillors you mention to them our urgent need for grounds and how important it is for young children to have a sport to be involved in that teaches them community values. This will help to push our cause to the forefront.   The benefits of such a decision need to be highlighted, such as the benefits of physical exercise to children in to-day’s society where sedentary life styles are causing children to become over-weight and obese.  The security that the parents feel that children can exercise in a safe environment, and the social skills and team spirit encouraged in our children.

When Hector Came to Town

The general population of Johnstown was very excited when Hector came to the shopping centre to present his show Breakfast with Hector on 2FM and from about 630 am the car park started to build up with cars and crowds.

Of course with Hector in the car park our challenge was how do we get the big man our Jersey, well you cant visit Johnstown and leave with out a Johnstown FC  Jersey.  After many phone calls texts and even tweets we relized that we have a man on the insides.  Yes indeed Britans Got Talent stars and You Tube sensations Jack and Cormac were going to perform and of course Jack plays for us.

Jack being a proud Club player was only too happy to oblige and after himself and Cormac performed Jack proudly presented hector with his very own Johnstown FC  jersey.  A massive massive thank you to Jack and Cormac for doing this for us we were delighted with the Photos

And here is a clip of the boys performing

MDL

Happy Birthday MDL

This Saturday 23rd November marks a significant date on the calendar for the Meath & District League as it was on this date in 1980 the first fixture schedule took place, with six of the starting eight teams in action.  At the time there were only three pitches at the disposal of the teams in the League, so it was necessary to leave two teams idle each week.  There are only two of the eight original teams currently not participating, former kingpins from the early Years Moynalvey, and a Factory based team near Athboy, Turmec.  The other six Kilmessan (two teams), Skryne, Robinstown, Navan Cosmos, and Dunshaughlin are all in affiliation in the current season, and in each instance have established their Clubs firmly within their respective Communities, with al of them catering for underage boys and girls teams along with their adult sides.

Kacper Zebrek

Kacper Makes Shortlist

For the second time in 3 weekends, a Johnstown FC front man has made the The Junior Soccer Portal shortlist for the Macron Player of the Week award.

Thanks to his decisive hat-trick this weekend and superb performances in midfield in recent weeks, Kacper Zeberek was nominated and ultimately shortlisted for the award. Sadly, as with Daniele 2 weeks ago, he didn’t win but we are sure one of our players will win it before the season is out!

Well done Kacper!!

Daniele Gismondi

Maybe Next Week

Hot on the heels of his marvellous hat-trick yesterday comes the news that front man Daniele Gismondi was shortlisted for The Junior Soccer Portal‘s Macron Player of the Week award.

Being up against former LOI, Premier League, La Liga and Romanian Liga 1 players, some of whom did not even make the shortlist, was always a tough ask but if Super-Dan keeps up his form, it’s surely only a matter of time before he picks up this award.

Well done and hard luck Daniele.
