This Saturday 23^rd November marks a significant date on the calendar for the Meath & District League as it was on this date in 1980 the first fixture schedule took place, with six of the starting eight teams in action.  At the time there were only three pitches at the disposal of the teams in the League, so it was necessary to leave two teams idle each week.  There are only two of the eight original teams currently not participating, former kingpins from the early Years Moynalvey, and a Factory based team near Athboy, Turmec.  The other six Kilmessan (two teams), Skryne, Robinstown, Navan Cosmos, and Dunshaughlin are all in affiliation in the current season, and in each instance have established their Clubs firmly within their respective Communities, with al of them catering for underage boys and girls teams along with their adult sides.
